Tamara Pavlova - Head Coach

Tamara has been immersed in the world of Synchro since the age of 6.

With a rich background as a professional Artistic Swimming athlete, Tamara has over 15 years of coaching experience.

She has previously coached in various Synchro Clubs and went on to form the Auckland Mermaids Synchro Club in 2014.

Tamara's passion for coaching extends beyond the competitive aspect of the sport, as she believes in instilling lifelong lessons of self-empowerment, confidence, sportsmanship, and friendship in her swimmers.

As one of the National Development Program's Coaches (New Zealand Synchro Swim National Team) since 2022, Tamara brings a wealth of expertise to our club. Her coaching philosophy goes beyond the pool, encompassing holistic growth and development of our athletes. We are privileged to have Tamara as our Head Coach, guiding our swimmers towards excellence in and out of the water.

Lia Zhang - Club Manager, Intermediate Coach

Lia is a valuable member of Auckland Mermaids Synchro Club, joining us in 2018 as our dedicated club manager. With her expertise in general administration, marketing, day-to-day operations, member enrollments, and course coordination, Lia plays a crucial role in keeping our club running smoothly.

In 2019, Lia took her passion for synchro swimming to the next level by qualifying as an Official Judge under FINA, showcasing her commitment and dedication to the sport.

In 2021, she also became a qualified Intermediate Artistic Swimming Coach and started coaching our aspiring athletes. Lia's patient and enthusiastic approach to coaching has contributed to the success of our club, with members winning competitions and our club growing in leaps and bounds.

We are thrilled to have Lia as a part of our team, and her passion for synchro swimming shines through in all she does!
